Olympics

24 Aug 2008: Today is the last day and marks the end of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Congratulations to China for the marvellous Opening Ceremony on 08 Aug 2008, the equally superb just-concluded Closing Ceremony, the amazing architecture of the Bird's Nest and Water Cube, the successful organising of the games and coming out top in the gold medal standings for the first time.

Olympic Games is supposed to be the biggest sporting event in the world. If that is the case, can somebody please explain why the following sports are not part of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games:

1) Squash - A very popular sport being played all over the world. This sport is also played in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, but funny, not in Olympic Games till today.
2) Bowling - Also another very popular sport played all over the world.

At least Wushu is getting a headstart with the organising of the 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament to coincide with the Olympics.

If any one of the abovementioned sports is part of the Olympics, I strongly believe Malaysia will return home with more than just one silver medal in the recent games. Agree with me? Anyway, congrats to Lee Chong Wei for coming home with a silver medal. Still waiting for the elusive gold medal; hope to get it at London 2012.
